Tipperary athlete Katie Bergin, Moyne AC delivered one of the standout performances of her season with a superb new personal best of 23.88 seconds in the 200 metres at the renowned Boysen Memorial meeting in Oslo, Norway.

Competing against a high-quality international field at the historic Bislett Stadium, Bergin broke the 24-second barrier recording an impressive 23.88 to continue her remarkable progression on the European athletics circuit.

The Boysen Memorial is one of Scandinavia’s most respected track and field meetings and holds World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze status. Organised annually by IK Tjalve, the event attracts elite athletes from across Europe and beyond, providing competitors with an opportunity to perform on one of the world’s most celebrated athletics stages.

The meeting is named in honour of Norwegian athletics legend Audun Boysen, the Olympic 800m bronze medallist from the 1956 Melbourne Games and a former world record holder. His legacy continues through an event that has become a fixture on the international athletics calendar.

Adding further prestige to Bergin’s achievement is the venue itself. Bislett Stadium is widely regarded as one of the fastest tracks in world athletics history, having witnessed more than 60 world records since its opening. Generations of Olympic champions and global stars have competed on the iconic Oslo track.

Bergin’s performance demonstrates her continued development as one of Ireland’s leading sprint talents. Running a personal best on such a significant international stage reflects both her dedication and the high standard of preparation undertaken by the athlete and her support team.

The 23.88 clocking not only represents a major personal milestone but also reinforces Bergin’s growing presence in European sprinting. Achieving a personal best in a World Athletics Continental Tour meeting highlights her ability to perform under pressure against strong international opposition.

Bergin’s success is another source of pride and a testament to the strength of sprinting talent emerging from the club. As the season progresses, this breakthrough performance in Oslo will provide significant confidence heading into upcoming national and international competitions.

Katie Bergin’s run at the Boysen Memorial was a performance of genuine quality, showcasing her speed, determination, and potential for further success on the international stage.
