Tipperary’s athletes delivered a masterclass in performance over the weekend at the 2026 IUAA Indoor Athletics Championships. Click for official results

Katie Bergin Representing UCC and Moyne AC delivered a career-defining performance to win the 60m Gold, Katie won her heat by equalling her previous PB of 7.55s, she then had blistering new PB with a winning time of 7.47s in the final, this is ranked as the eighth fastest time by an Irish female athlete (at home or abroad) so far this year.

Laura Frawley (UL/Nenagh Olympic  the IUAA Athlete of the Year lived up to her billing as the favorite. Laura a combined events specialist, won gold in Long jump, silver in WFD & Hurdles and bronze in the Shot. Winning the pentathlon with 3532pts, Laura was instrumental for the University of Limerick team that won the overall title for the first time since 2006.

Pauric Hassett (TUS / Nenagh Olympic) competed in the 200m heats clocking 22.44, before going on to win silver in the WFD with a throw of 7.97m

Emily Davidson (UL / Nenagh Olympic) was very impressive getting over 2.15m in the pole Vault to claim a bronze medal, Emily also took part in the 60m and recorded 8.45s.

Emma O’Neill (DCU / Carrick on Suir) competed in the long jump and was only 1cm away from a medal with a 1st round jump of 5.35m, heart-breaking to be so close but great jumping again from Emma.

Jack Hickey (UL / Nenagh Olympic) had a solid 200m heat clocking 23.49 before taking to the runway for the long jump and getting over 6m for 5th place.

David Forkan (UL / Nenagh Olympic) finished 2nd in his 200m heat with 23.34 and ran on the 4x200m team that took 3rd place in the final.

Sarah Lane (UCC / Nenagh Olympic) Competed in the 800m, Sarah had a strong run to make the final with a 2.18.

James Tanner (TUS / Nenagh Olympic) Produced a Solid performance in the 3000m , clocking an impressive 8:40 to finish 11th overall.

Cian Hodgins (UL / Nenagh Olympic) had a very good 1500m, finishing 6th in a time of 3.54, this was a great performance in a stacked final.

Luke Purcell (TUS / Nenagh Olympic): Stepped way down in distance to take on the 800m, impressively running sub 2 to record a 1.59.

Sophie Walker (Newport AC / UL) Delivered a strong performance to get to the  400m final finishing in 5th with 60.56s, before competing on the UL mixed relay team that finished in 1st place.

Ted Collins (UCD / Nenagh Olympic) recorded 1.56.96 to make it to the final where he finished 7th overall.

Mark Davidson (UL / Nenagh Olympic) competed in the 400m clocking 53.26, before going on to win bronze for UL in the 4x200m Relay.

Josh Egan (DCU / Nenagh Olympic) finished 2nd in the long jump with 6.26m, also competing in Hurdles, HJ, TJ, Shot and the 800m finishing 5th overall in the combined events.
