Fantastic news from the FISEC Games in Budapest, Hungary held on the 16th & 17th July , where Clonmel AC’s Cara Ryan enjoyed an outstanding opening day of competition.
Competing in challenging hot conditions, Cara claimed gold in the Shot Put and joint silver in the High Jump alongside Irish teammate Orlaigh Byrne of Togher AC. Cara’s international campaign continued into the weekend when she travelled to Belfast to represent Ireland once again at the Schools International (SIAB) Championships. Again, she claimed medals (see SIAB report). Well done Cara. You are doing your family, club and county proud!
Also representing Tipperary & Team Ireland was Carrick-on-Suir AC’s talented U17 athlete Sarah Bartley, who had a fantastic week in Hungary, qualifying for the Triple Jump final, finishing a very impressive 7th place, against very strong international competition. Sarah also came 12th overall out of a field of 30 in the long jump just missing out on the final.
Well done Sarah – great experience to compete at this level and to make such great memories.
Team Ireland won overall in both Girls athletes and Boys athletes. Huge congratulations to all athletes involved – the medley relay team came 1st also.
The participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary India, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain – a truly international field!

Clonmel Ladies Win at National 10 Mile Championship

The Irish Runner 10 Mile race took place this morning in Phoenix Park, incorporating the National 10 Mile Championships.
Following their strong performances at the National 5 Mile Championships last month, the Clonmel AC ladies made the trip to Dublin once again—and it certainly proved worthwhile!

l-r: Amanda Lonergan, Ruth Halley, Sareen Walsh

Amanda Lonergan produced a brilliant run to finish 2nd in her age category in a time of 1:06:24. She was superbly supported by Ruth Hally (1:12:15) and Sareen Walsh (1:13:51), with the trio combining to claim 3rd place in the Ladies Team Competition, earning National Bronze Medals.
A fantastic achievement by all three athletes.
