Last Saturday (17/01/2026) Tipperary Athletics held their County Championships after a hiatus at Junior/Senior/Master level. It was great to have competition back for these athletes who put on a great display throughout the day. Athletes from visiting clubs were also welcome to guest at this event which certainly added to the excitement and we sincerely thank the athletes who travelled and supported our Championships. We had athletes from Leevale, Crookstown Millview and Letterkenny AC to name a few!! We had a County record or two on the day to boot with Noel Monteith of Borrisokane AC who competed in the field events throughout the day. His best jump came in the Long Jump with 3.10 being his best effort on the day! An O80’s record to add!
Great to see our athletes get their season off to a flying start and I wish everyone well as the season rolls on. I appeal to clubs to promote and encourage their athletes to compete at domestic championships which will only heighten our sport and allows athletes to develop and flourish.
The County Board are very grateful for Nenagh Olympic for allowing us to use the stadium and providing support throughout the day, thank you to those who officiated and volunteered to assist with competition and the spectators for supporting the athletes. Special thank you to Eileen and all the Order of Malta team who ensured everyone’s safety was maintained and to Marek of 360.republic who captured the action through the lens! Without everyone supporting one another, these events cannot happen. Thanks again.
