County Tipperary Athletic News by Niall O Sullivan County Senior PRO

 

Eugene O’Keefe Munster Champion

County Athletes made the long trip down to Castleisland to compete in the Munster Road Championships a successful one.

In the men’s 4 mile over a relatively flat route with the finish on An Ríocht AC track. Competition was very keen with a very good entry in both races while athletes had to contend with wet conditions throughout the event.

The County over 50 team was led home by Fintan Rice who ran a great race when winning the over 60 silver medal in 24 mins 7 secs. Then we had Liam Lewis Mooreabbey Milers Ac also running very well when finishing in 24 mins 19 secs. Eugene O’Keeffe Carrick-on-Suir Road Runners AC also ran very well when winning the over 50 Munster title impressively in 24 mins 33 secs. Then we had good performances also from Willie O’Donoghue Mooreabbey Milers AC 25 mins 38 secs, Tom Blackburn Mooreabbey Milers AC 26 mins 15 secs, Dariusz Gazdowicz Mooreabbey Milers AC 27 mins 29 secs, Michael Moore Dundrum AC  27 mins 49 secs, Patrick Roche Carrick on Suir AC 29 mins 20 secs and Michael Croom Carroll Fethard AC 40 mins 40 secs.

The Tipperary over 50 team of Fintan Rice, Liam Lewis, Eugene O’Keefe and Willie O’Donoghue won the silver medals. The Mooreabbey Milers over 50 team of Liam Lewis, Willie o Donoghue, Tom Blackburn and Dariusz Gazdopwicz won the bronze medals.

County Novice Road

The County Tipperary Road season get underway on Sunday 22nd March with the County Novice Road championships down for decision in Lisvernane starting at 10am.

County Senior Road

The County Senior Road championships down for decision in Ballyneale on 5th April has also been confirmed to have a 10am start.

County Novice B & Junior Road

The County Novice B & Junior Road championships has been moved to Saturday 18th April in Fethard starting at 7pm.
